Efficient, Reliable and Sustainable Energy Generation
Combined Heat and Power (CHP), also known as cogeneration, is the simultaneous production of electricity and useful thermal energy from a single integrated energy conversion process. In gas-turbine-based CHP plants, high-temperature exhaust gases are recovered to produce steam, hot water, or process heat instead of being discharged directly into the atmosphere.
By utilizing this recoverable thermal energy, CHP systems consume less fuel than the separate production of electricity and heat. Depending on the selected technology and the effective use of recovered heat, overall system efficiency can typically reach 70–90%.
